I was thinking about some of the things in my life that have been around, well, forever! You know – the kind of stuff that is exactly the same as when we first started using it. I put together my ‘short list’ of tools and items that are firmly rooted in my long-term memory banks!

Some things do – as we know – improve with age, like these seven timeless tools. Here’s the short list:

  1. Egg Cartons: The paper egg carton was invented in 1911.Hasn’t changed much since!
  2. Eyelash curlers: The manual version virtually unchanged since it first hit the shelves in the early 1900’s.A Timeless Tool: Eyelash Curlers!
  3. Kitchenaid Mixers: Some new colors, features, but basically the same workhorse appliance your mama had and kicking butt in the kitchen since 1918!
  4. Bell’s Turkey Dressing Spices: Since 1867 Bell’s has been synonomous with Thanksgiving dinner magic! Still in the same cool little cardboard box. (Dear Bell’s – please don’t change it!)
  5. Fruit pickers: Those little wire baskets on the end of a pole for picking apples and fruit from trees? Exactly as I remember them as a kid.
  6. Yardsticks: I collect these – I love them. Not only are they cool to look at with the old advertising, but you can still use ’em…and I do!
  7. Hay Hooks: The antique ones are cool, but if you need one, you can still get one almost identical to the old ones at Tractor Supply or Amazon

Random list, isn’t it? Seems like the older I get, the more contented it makes me to see this stuff around! The stuff of memories can be strange indeed…
