So, today is Thanksgiving Day. I have an unabashed love for this holiday…it’s the one true family holiday…no gifts to buy, little stress, just a tv-watching, turkey-cooking, pigging-out kinda day. I love it.
Next to the family, mostly I love the food. Turkey. Mashed potatoes and gravy. (I make a mean homemade gravy!) The only time I make a green bean casserole during the year. Squash, homemade bread, Asparagus and Artichoke casserole, dressing, pies, whipped cream…yeah. Yet as I grow older I’m more aware of my diet, I’m learning to be more watchful of what I eat and how much I eat.
Because our bodies and our digestion changes as we age, we need to change how we eat. Breakfast is a good example…when your my age and still working full-time, finding healthy breakfast food to go can be a challenge. I’v learned to love healthy smoothies for breakfast, and they’re easy to take along. It’s fun to try new things, and when I come across some low-cal recipes, I love to share them.
It’s much easier to eat healthy now….you can even order healthy muffins online at locations like FiberScrumptious.com!
Enjoy your turkey, dressing and mashed potatotes today! But do consider adding some more healthy recipes to your daily menopause diet like this great recipe for Sweet and Savory Kale. You’ll be glad you did!
